The Punjab government’s request to adjourn the SYL canal issue was rejected by the Supreme Court after the announcement of the Punjab assembly election results on March 11.
Justice PC Ghose wondered that what the court proceedings had to do with the assembly elections results. Whereas Ram Jethmalani senior advocate has made the request.
Punjab government has to file a response to Haryana government’s who has accusing for the violation of court order to maintain the status quo on the land which is meant for the river water-sharing project. The Punjab government has denotified the area which is identified for returning to the farmers which was put on hold by the Supreme Court. The senior advocate Jethmalani seeking time to submit the affidavit, and told that the affidavit was ready , it could not be submitted yet because CM Parkash Singh Badal was undergoing medical treatment , that’s why could not get the document. But the Supreme Court asked him to complete all the formality by February 20 and has fixed February 22 for the next hearing of SYL issue.
