Repolling in the 48 polling stations of the Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency and five other assembly segments has begun today from 8 AM. Repolling also includes a seat from which Bikram Singh Majithia SAD leader is contesting. While AAP called for tighter security to stop any unwanted mishap in the constituencies.
Repolling was ordered on 7 February by the Election Commission due to the malfunctioning of VVPAT and EVMs in these polling stations during 4 February assembly elections.
The repolling was ordered at 12 polling stations of the Majitha Assembly seat, 9 from each of Muktsar and Sangrur, 1 polling station each of Moga and Sardulgarh and 16 polling stations of the Amritsar Parliamentary constituency.
Punjab government has announced holiday in these five districts going repolling. Also a paid holiday in the factories, shops and commercial establishments that are located in area of Amritsar parliamentary constituency and other assembly constituencies has been declared.
