The Liquor shops in the Punjab State will remain closed from February 2 till February 4. This decision has been taken keeping in the of the Punjab assembly polls which are to held on February 4.
D Singh Mangat who is the District Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer uses the powers under Punjab Excise. According to the Representation of Public Act has directed all the wholesale and retail liquor shops will remain closed from February 2 to 4. Also on March 11 all liquor shops will remain closed, the day of counting the votes.
All the wholesale and retail liquor shops and vends will remain closed as well as all hotels, restaurants and marriage palaces of the state will not be allowed to serve liquor on these days.
