The Punjab government has announced holiday in all five districts Amritsar, Moga, Muktsar, Mansa and Sangrur where repolling has begun in 48 polling stations .
Yesterday in a release state government told that in the wake of re-polling in 48 polling stations we have declared the holiday in these five Districts .
A spokesperson said that this holiday has been announced under the section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881. Today all the offices, boards, corporations, public undertakings and educational institutes will remain closed.
Re-polling has been ordered by the Election Commission due to the malfunctioning of VVPAT and EVM in these 48 polling stations.
Also, the state government declared a paid holiday for the people who are working in factories, shops and commercial establishments that are situated in these five districts.
The results of the Assembly election in Punjab will be announced on March 11. The ruling SAD- BJP Alliance seeks to retain power in Punjab but it also faces tough competition from AAP and Congress.
